Rubber Gasket

Each Airlock Fermenter includes a rubber gasket, though you may want to replace it every 2-3 years if it when it gets old, dry, or exposed to mould. The gasket is why Bormioli Rocco jars have an airtight seal.


Bormioli Rocco vulcanized rubber gaskets for an airtight seal; replacement gaskets for Fido jars (Airlock Fermenters).

Hand wash with hot water, no soap or chemicals. Store with gasket loose in the jar not stretched around the lid. Replace the rubber gasket if ferment turns mouldy. Bormioli Rocco suggest replacing gaskets before reusing the lid for canning, but our experience using these jars for fermentation doesn’t warrant this. We suggest replacing gaskets every 2-3 years to ensure an airtight seal or when mould grows in ferment. Mould spores cannot be washed away.

No not store fatty foods in the jar, as fat adversely affects the rubber seal.
